The Ross School in Ross, CA held a Turkey Trot fun run to benefit JDRF on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. It was a beautiful day in Ross, sun shining brightly as the students ran nearly a mile through the town. Families and friends of the school participated in the festivities, raising $1,684.12 for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.

The event was championed by fourth grader, Delilah Marrocco who was diagnosed with T1D in 2011. In preparation for the event, sheĀ spoke to her school assembly, explaining what T1D is and how it affects her life. Delilah’s parents,Ā Mark and Heather Marrocco, and big sister Isabella (seventh grade) cheered the runners on and helped raise awareness about T1D. Delilah was thrilled to see such a great turn out for a cause so important to her. “Never underestimate the power of school spirit,” she said.
